Power of branded fictional characters

One thing I am starting to notice in my research is the reoccurring characters of hello kitty, barbie, sailor moon and other fictional characters. It’s made me think about the power of branding fictional characters and how much of a massive part of pop culture they play. I want to focus my area of study towards this direction for a day or so and see if there is enough research to base my symposium just on this area.
